Yet we missed adventure. We were focussing on things that were wrong for us: the mortgage, expensive ballet lessons and little outings. I hoped to convince people traveling was possible on every budget and for everybody. But also to promote (lesser known) destinations, unique accomodations and activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It really is a job from the heart. Though my business was growing slowly I got immense satisfaction from it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the last year my business really started to take off. There were days I was busy for hours simply answering questions of people searching for the perfect holiday or unique trips for the family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thejehouligans.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-07-28-at-23.46.14-2-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thejehouligans.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-07-28-at-23.46.14-2-768x1024.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.thejehouligans.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-07-28-at-23.46.14-2-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/www.thejehouligans.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-07-28-at-23.46.14-2-45x60.jpeg 45w, https:\/\/www.thejehouligans.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-07-28-at-23.46.14-2.jpeg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I also planned and executed amazing collabs with hotels, touristic agencies and brands within Europe, one of the harder influencer markets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Pandemic\"><\/span>Pandemic<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>But by the end of February all of a sudden the whole country and half the world was locked down and my business seemed to go into the same direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We stayed inside for 3,5 months. Then we heard our summertrips to Ireland (promoting a camper) and to Iran (taking a presstrip round the country) were cancelled due to covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_turning_point\"><\/span>The turning point<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In the meanwhile Daany also heard offices stayed closed until the 31st of August at least.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That moment we decided to take the leap and just leave. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We had two weeks to rent out our house. Decide to keep on homeschooling both girls. We packed our belongings in a hand luggage bag and left for Austria with our international passports and negative corona-tests in hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is how a pandemic and cancelled trips made us digital nomads overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friends and family expect us back after a week or three.
